Everything below is cut from your own flooring material.
What To Measure
Getting these numbers right is most of the job. If you're unsure about any of them, bring what you have and we'll measure it with you at the shop.
Flush floor vents
The duct opening in the subfloor — length and width. Measure the hole itself, not the old vent cover, because the cover overlaps it.
Stair nosing
Tread depth and width for every stair, plus your flooring thickness. Measure each one separately — stairs are rarely identical, especially in older homes.
Reducers
The full width of the opening, and the height difference between the two floors measured from the top of one to the top of the other.
T-moldings
The full width of the doorway and the width of the expansion gap between the two floors.
Also bring
- Your leftover flooring — offcuts or spare planks
- The flooring brand and product name, if you know it
- Photos of the space, if it helps explain the job
- Your timeline, so we can tell you if it's realistic

Before You Order
The things people ask us first.
How much flooring do I need to bring?
A vent typically takes one or two spare planks. Stair nosing takes roughly one plank per tread. Reducers and T-moldings depend on the width of the opening. If you're unsure, bring what you have and we'll tell you whether it's enough before we start.
What if I don't have any leftover flooring?
Tell us the brand and product name and we'll be straight with you about what's possible. Sometimes we can source it. If the product is discontinued and there's no material to work with, we'll say so rather than sell you something that nearly matches.
How long will it take?
Most orders turn around within a week of your material reaching the shop. Larger jobs and unusual sizes take longer, and we tell you up front rather than after you've committed.
Do I pay before or after?
We confirm the full price with you before anything is cut. No work starts until you've agreed to it.
Where do I bring my flooring?
To the shop at 262 Poplar Hill Drive, Calgary AB T3R 1C7. You drop the material off there and collect the finished pieces from the same place — we don't deliver and we don't come out to site. Call 403-862-4161 before you come so we know to expect you.
